Context

Café owners James Sharplin and Shannon Smith were on a mission to bring an element of European flair to the outer suburbs of Melbourne in a creative way.

Brief

Our initial brief was to come up with names and a visual identity for a retro, deli café in Cheltenham - something a little bit different from other cafés in the area.

Process

Once we settled on the name, hand-crafted branding elements like illustration and custom lettering were created and applied to exterior signage and printed material.

Outcome

Milkboy has been featured across multiple Australian press sites including Broadsheet and Concrete Playground and has expanded in size to accommodate its growing patronage.

1

Logo development

Inspired by the charisma of the traditional 1970’s uniformed milkman and the monoline lettering of an era goneby we developed a hand lettered logotype and pictogram of a young milkboy.

2

Print design

The flexible logo design was able to be used in multiple formations and became a stamp utilised across all printed collateral; menus, flyers, business cards, coffee tokens and coffee cups.
